Reputation

In a decentralized network without central authority, reputation provides the trust layer. NeoEngine uses an on-chain reputation system to help renters find reliable providers.

Building Reputation

Best Practices

  1. Maintain High Uptime — Keep your node online 24/7 if possible
  2. Accept Appropriate Jobs — Only accept jobs you can complete
  3. Respond Quickly — Fast acceptance improves your score
  4. Deliver Quality — Avoid errors and timeouts
  5. Stake Long-Term — Longer stake duration improves score

Recovery from Bad Reputation

If your score drops:

  • Complete more jobs successfully
  • Maintain perfect uptime for 30+ days
  • Avoid disputes (or win them)
  • Consider unstaking and restarting (reputation is tied to wallet)

Reputation Decay

Inactive providers experience reputation decay:

Inactivity PeriodDecay Rate

8-30 days-1 point/day
31-90 days-2 points/day

Disputes

When results are disputed:

  1. Renter files dispute with evidence
  2. Result is re-executed on 3 neutral providers
  3. Majority vote determines outcome
  4. Losing party’s stake is slashed
  5. Reputation adjusted accordingly

Filing false disputes damages your own reputation. Only dispute when you have clear evidence.
